Talking about how things are presented

I remember hearing about a funny social experiment done by Penn and Teller where they get lot’s of environmentalists to sign a petition banning dihydrogen monoxide a.k.a. water. Many people do sign it and I believe it’s a response to the way the women who is passing the petition chooses to present herself. She sounds informed and concerned about a subject that seems harmful. The people who sign, accept her presentation more than her information as what they base their choice to sign the petition off of. At the end of the experiment people are informed of the truth and laugh it off, but I wonder if they will try to be more skeptical of presentations in the future.  Maybe if robots read speeches people would have a better chance at spotting the hidden messages? To those who are reading, I hope you use this information for good and not evil.
