While making our Concept in 60 seconds we knew that we could better express our message through pictures. There are some things that only a picture can say because what is unsaid opens a door to your imagination. Other times the most powerful way to spark imagination is through a word.
What do you picture when you hear the word paradise? Some might think of a beach, or maybe a snow day, you might even think of a secret garden. I personally think of cheesecake. Everyone has a different image of what paradise is to them. There is no universal image for every person. We make images off of our hopes, dreams, and memories. Because people do not share the same experiences as others they can not share the same ideas. Words have a strong power because of the association with experiences that we give them. Words contain no meaning until someone assigns a certain meaning or definition to them. People in most cases will create a definition that aligns with an experience that they have had with a word or something they recall or comes to mind when the word is said or read. In some sense words hold a stronger image and in others images contain the meaning. So if a picture is worth 1,000 words, how many pictures is a word worth?
In the Concept it 60, we had to think of things that are better communicated though images. Words can sometimes constrain you- but this is a chance to connect with the audience, so one should do so in the most effective way possible.
